Two vehicles ostucting firetruck access, abusing double yellow as free overnight parking

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 08:01, Thu 11 October 2018

Sent to Tower Hamlets Borough Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1434557.

Since late August (it’s now early October) there have been several occasions when these same two cars have been parked between 8pm-8am; the drivers arrive each morning to take their cars away for the day, and return at night to park. Obstructing access: often a fight will break out between trucks trying to navigate the narrow remaining access to make deliveries. Thank heaven we have not yet had a fire but there is certainly not enough space for one to get through.

  • Same car using the double yellow as free parking the following weekend.

  • Six months later we have the same problem still. Cars & vans turn up and are left for days at a time but nobody tickets them. Very suspicious the parking wardens are being paid off by the vehicle owners.

  • Another six months and we have nine vehicles parked in an area with four spaces. Multiple double-parking, and one of the vans is fully blocking the entrance to the building. If a fire started in the block we would be stranded. This is the case every hour of every day. Note the parking ticket on the van in right hand corner, this is on the inside of the windscreen and was not received at the current location. We’ve not seen any tickets issued here in years.
