Noisy/loose manhole cover outside 30 St Woodstock Rd (southbound side)

Reported in the Manhole category anonymously at 09:32, Mon 1 October 2018

Sent to Oxford City Council 3 minutes later

Following recent resurfacing on Woodstock Rd (near the old Radcliffe Infirmary site) the Thames Water manhole on the southbound side outside no. 30 Woodstock Rd is banging loudly whenever traffic drives over it (not all vehicles hit it but many do). It never made a sound before, but is now very disturbing for all those living and working in the area (it's right outside my window!) and potentially unsafe for bikes and pedestrians, as it seems to be loose. Please could this be looked at - thank you.

Updates

  • Update 24/10: there are actually TWO loose manhole covers here, both Thames Water. One is big, one small, both are very noisy.

  • No reply from Council via this website or otherwise. I contacted Thames Water, who said they will send a team to inspect these loose/dangerous covers and tarmac them in (or whatever else is required). They didn't say when, but were otherwise helpful, so hopefully this will now be repaired in the near future.
