We moved in March this year from a 21 year tenure of being Carterton residents in Jackson Close to now living at 17 Swinbrook Road.
One of the factors in our decision was the re-assurance that there were bollards closing off the Northern end of the road and that traffic up and down the road was quite moderate.
We have recently become aware that the bollards have been removed on account of a recent incident involving an ambulance sat nav leading it up Swinbrook Road in error whilst en-route to an emergency at the football club and the being a problem in releasing the bollards to let it pass.
Whilst we can understand the gravity of this incident the removal of the bollards has led to there being a very considerable increase in the volume and overall speed of traffic in both directions as a result of the new housing estate residents to the North using Swinbrook Road as a cut through into town. The impact upon us in just the past few days has been considerable with loss of sleep and increase in stress levels as though volume does vary the traffic seems to now be constant at all times of the day and night.
We are hopeful that the bollard removal is a temporary measure pending replacement bollards being installed which are better for the emergency services to use.
We would be most grateful for any re-assurance which you may be able to offer us meanwhile and if our input can be of any help in re-affirming the original reasoning for the bollards being sited.
Thanks and regards,
