Raised drain exposed due to erosion of surrounding tarmac

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 16:55, Monday 10 September 2018

Sent to West Sussex County Council 4 minutes later

The cast iron surround of a drain on the North East side of Fordwater Road is now raised above the level of the surrounding ground due to loss of much of the tarmac in which it was originally embedded. This presents a hard, sharp edge to the wheels of vehicles driven close to the edge of the road which can damage tyres and inevitably happens from time to time because the road is narrow and is used by wide commercial vehicles as well as cars. It is a particular hazard for two wheeled vehicles which could lose control if a wheel were to hit the hard edge, puncturing a tyre or buckling a wheel.
