Large manhole cover in road loose or subsided.....

Sent to Hampshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1407483.

Causes loud knocking noise in house no. 129 opposite as traffic goes over. Noise appears to be coupled through ground or loose pipework. Becoming very irritating.

Updates

  • Highways department attended but reported there was no danger to traffic and that no action was necessary. I then reported the problem to BT whose manhole it was. They attended within a couple of hours and agreed the manhole cover was loose. The engineer promised to arrange remedial action but so far nothing has been done. We continue to live with the noise.
