Pedestrian Lights not phasing properly

Reported in the Traffic lights category by D. Kay at 19:46, Tue 14 August 2018

Sent to TfL 4 minutes later

A few weeks ago, the pedestrian lights outside Lewisham Hospital were being worked on for over a week - but since then I have noticed that they are taking much longer than before to change from green to red. Why is this a problem? I have seen people take dangerous chances to run across this busy duel carriageway to catch a bus on the other side because the length of time to change red is increased, and ... they miss their bus. The very fact that it is a busy Hospital area means that many people using this crossing will have some sort of temporary or permanent mobility problem, and may not be able to stand for too long. The main problem is - people now running across the road to catch a bus! These lights were fine before the work on them - they had very quick changes to red once the button was pushed. Please fix asap.

  • I don't know if they're ''fixed'' - had an email from the people dealing with lights to say they WERE fixed - but when I used them, the lights in question were still too slow to change to red to allow crossing. Next time I use them, on my next visit to the hospital - I will take note, and add this as comment the next time Fixmystreet ask if my reported fault is fixed.

  • Lights still taking an age to change to red - unlike before, where lights changed within 30 secs once button pushed. Often now both sets of lights can be on red - which just didn't happen before. I think the priority has changed... for safety's sake, please change back to fast changing red - people are dashing across this busy duel carriage way to catch their bus on the opposite side of the road to the hospital!!

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Was there last week - still raking way too long to change from red to green. The opposite lights on the other half of the carriageway phase red-green quickly. I have now officially given up! Waiting for Lewisham/ or TFL ... WHOEVER to do something to rectify this is like banging your head on a brick wall - only when someone is injured taking a chance dashing across this dual carriageway, will something be done.! Then I hope these messages come back to haunt them!
