Council rubbish collectors are leaving contents of bins and their collection from the beaches in flimsy rubbish sacks.

Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 18:21, Tue 31 July 2018

Sent to Canterbury City Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1377200.

Yesterday evening I saw the flimsy council rubbish bags left by the bin man at the top of Tankerton Slopes broken into by herring gulls. The contents of the rubbish bags were scattered and blown down the slopes onto the beaches and some of it into the sea. This is a serious environmental issue. Gulls are doing what gulls do but leaving flimsy bags of rubbish around is absurd. What is the point of teaching people to put litter in bins if it's going to end up in the sea? I caught up with the rubbish collector and told her. She was unconcerned. If this is a regular practice it should be changed.
