Severe deformation of the road surface
Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 09:53, Tue 31 July 2018
Sent to Oxford City Council 2 minutes later
The road surface across the width of Cherwell Drive, Marston from no.s 96 - 100 is very damaged. The surface is very deformed and potholed. It falls well below the minimum standard for road surface quality and is especially unsafe for singe track vehicles. Another impact of this issue is the damage to neighbouring residential properties caused by the resultant shockwaves from heavy vehicles passing over the deformations. It has been an issue for a long time now and the county council has been made aware of the issue on previous occasions but its persistent inertia is all too evident.
Thank you for your enquiry. I can confirm that this has now been inspected, unfortunately currently there are no defects that meet our intervention level. However, this issue has been passed to the Asset Team to look into for future works. We will continue to monitor this going forward.

Given the little time elapsed between reporting this and the response given, it is difficult to believe that this was examined despite the claim from the council. The road is in a shocking state, it this really is not suitable for repair then heaven help us.
