Lorries constantly blocking main road
Reported in the Abandoned vehicles category anonymously at 20:21, Tue 17 July 2018
Sent to East Northamptonshire District Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1366105.
Please address vast amounts of resident’s complaints regarding delivery lorries blocking the high street on a daily basis in order to offload their deliveries as close to the shops as possible, namely Tesco, because a) they’re too lazy to park legally and whee the roll cages a few feet, and b) the landlords/tenants refuse to utilise he dedicated loading bay to the rest of the shops, which was specifically created to avoid ridiculous blocking of the main road through the town. Please actually do something constructive for a change and sort this joke out. The council is becoming a laughing stock, sitting back and taking no action.

Nope. Lorries still parking on double yellows on the high street eve when not unloading. Even so, there’s a dedicated loading bay around the back that they can’t be bothered to use.
Not only that but please sort out the constant parking all along the main road on double yellow lines and further down on the way out of Irthlingborough towards Wellingborough. Namely the house oppose the Premier shop that hd 6 old bangers on their drive, a caravan, and still parks a car on the main road halting traffic and making people have to swerve around them. Inconsiderate and ignorant.

Still happening and now it’s happeneing on the stretch of road out towards the Wellingborough direction of town towards the Presland way roundabout. I saw 2 traffic warden once after this was reported, however they were both just standing leaning up against the wall of Tesco chatting at about 11am. Not the most troublesome time and certainly doesn’t need the tax payer to pay for 2 traffic wardens to stand around gossiping. 1 doing their job at 8-10am and then 3-6pm would do the trick.

Utter rubbish. You gave Coop permission to build a whole new retails area from the ground up rather than force existing empty units to sell up, now close Tesco so that they do not continue blocking the high street. We’ve got Coop and Aldi now so do not need the sub par and poorly located Tesco. Close it and make it and indoor market. Considering planning applications for housing developments are calling Irthlingborough a ‘market town’.
