Possible unlawful tree felling
Reported in the Trees category anonymously at 19:52, Thu 5 July 2018
Sent to Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1357049.
There were 2 cherry trees on a section of land between the houses on Heathcote Drive and 1st row of houses on Gibson Road, Sileby. On the weekend of 24th June one tree was attacked to remove lower limbs that may have been overhanging a back entrance to a house on Heathcote where they wanted to park a car. The debris has not been removed and the car has not parked there for over a week. My main concern is that on Tuesday (3rd July) the other tree has been totally cut down....... not back or crowned.... along with other bushes/vegetation. I do not believe this action to have been taken by the Council as it would not be necessary to totally remove the tree. I am a little concerned that a precedent has been set and others may follow suit in other parts/streets of the village

It would seem the Council are not interested in such occurrences soooo, let us all go out and remove a few trees. This was a gorgeous cherry tree and its only offence was to have the misfortune to overhang a garage Doh!!

It is Council land and I am very disappointed to see that it is of no interest to them. There is no reason for this cherry tree to have been felled apart from a householders avarice and slight inconvenience 😫 No worries.......let us all go and chop down trees because we don't like the blossom/leaves/fruit falling on our drives or garages 😬
