Speeding traffic in 30mph zone

Reported anonymously at 10:54, Mon 2 July 2018

Sent to Essex County Council and Uttlesford District Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1353713.

Constant speeding traffic in a 30mph zone on the B1252 between Warwick Road and the Lion and Lamb pub, very rarely does a vehicle keep to the speed limit. There is a sign on entering the 30mph zone from east to west on entering the 30mph zone, but that is all. Signs are required from the Warwick Road, west to east, to remind drivers that they are in a 30mph zone and to slow down. Unfortunately, this is a straight road and drivers just speed along this section of the 30 mph zone both ways and that includes all vehicles - bus drivers, lorry drivers, cars and motorbikes, motorbikes being one of the worst culprits, the police would have a field day in fines if they were to use a remote speed camera. I would request that some new signs be erected to try to control the speeding traffic, even one of the flashing signs would be advisable or a speed camera. I look forward to your comments. Kind regards Marilyn Volckman

  • Majority of traffic still speeding through a 30mph zone that requires a deterrent put into place, i.e. speed camera.

  • Would like to know what the Council are doing with regard to controlling speed limits on the B1256 in Little Canfield. Speed limit signs are very limited and a speed deterrent is required.

  • Still no deterrent in place with regard to speeding traffic on the B1256 in the 30 mph zone from Warwick Road to the Lion and Lamb Pub. The amount of traffic using this road beyond the speed limit is huge and something needs to be done as people use this section of road to cross to get to the Flitch Way and it can prove quite dangerous.
