Abandoned scaffolding
Reported by Nigel Cunningham at 18:19, Fri 15 June 2018
Sent to East Sussex County Council and Lewes District Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1340990.
ABANDONED SCAFFOLDING – ERECTED JULY 2017. "By reason of its height and dominance in the street scene causes a material loss of amenity to the local area. Notice has been served due to the significant time that has elapsed since the scaffolding was erected …. The steps taken in … this notice must be carried out within 1 month …." Notice took effect on 20 April 2018, legally requiring scaffolding to be removed by 20 May. It is now 15 June! "Failure to comply with the notice can result in … remedial action by the Council to give effect to its requirements [i.e. the council will remove the scaffolding!]". Any more delay in taking action will inevitably have a detrimental effect on the prosperity and wellbeing of the town – as demonstrated by the closing down of the 'Tonic Nine' shop!

Regarding the following email sent to me on the 25th June: it is STILL in place after the 4th July (it now being the 5th July) – with NO sign of it being removed.
Please comment – thank you.
"Thank you for your email to East Sussex Highways regarding the scaffolding on 25-27 High Street Seaford.
I can advise you that this scaffolding has not been abandoned and that East Sussex Highways are aware of it and it has a valid licence until the 4th July 2018.
If however the licence has not been extended, all details of this would be published on our website, and it is still in place after the 4th July then please contact us again and we will be able to look into this for you.
Kind regards
