Filthy water running from rear of Prezzos
Reported in the Hazardous spillage on road category by Charles Tucker at 10:02, Wed 13 June 2018 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1338547.
The rear of the Prezzos Restaurant at 45-151 High St, Beckenham BR3 1AG, has filthy dirty water running from it. The rear is in Burnhill Road. The water runs across the pavement and into the street gutter. It runs continually. It stinks in this hot weather. All sorts of things are growing in it. It must be a considerable health risk. This has been like this for months, if not years. The rear of this restaurant, where they store their industrial bins on wheels outside, is pretty disgusting and unkempt most of the time. The bins are not covered and are exposed to the elements.

As the issue concerns rubbish on an area which is not public highway or is regarding pest control this report has been passed to Environmental Health to investigate and is now closed on FixMyStreet. For information, enforcement action against rubbish will be taken depending on the nature of the accumulation. Bromley Council only have powers to enforce the removal of rubbish which contains material that could attract pests or pose a risk to public health.

I think the council have got the key issue wrong here. My main complaint is not about rubbish. It is about the filthy running water on the public pavement and public highway caused by the flow of waste water from the restaurant. The dirty water continually runs along Burnhill Road and down to the High Street. The public using the pavement and road have to wade through the disgusting pools of water. At the moment Beckenham High Street improvement works are going on and the poor pavement layers have to kneel in this filthy water as they work. Please have a look and see for yourselves.

Apologies as the wording above is a generic text. We have passed this issue to our Environmental Health Team who investigate any public health risks.

This problem is getting worse. The filthy water has now got thick green algae growing in it and the pedestrian pavement is very slippery. In the current hot weather the stagnant water absolutely stinks. This is now a major health risk. When will the council tackle Prezzo on this serious problem? I spoke to an employee and was told that the boiler had just broken and this was causing the leak. This water has been running on the foot way like this for at least a year, so it must be a bigger problem than just a broken boiler.
