Reported in the Parks/landscapes category by REG BARRITT at 10:12, Wed 18 April 2018
Sent to Cheshire West and Chester Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1286492.
Owners of a property, 50 Appleyard's Lane, from outside the area have applied to take a strip of community amenity greenspace abutting the highway for personal private parking use, with objections lodged with the LA to this. Noted the area has an assessed shortfall of amenity greenspace.

The application has been passed using delegated powers with the community having no chance to go before the CWASC Planning Committee to express concern that passing this application was damaging to CWAC's own policy to protect this local greenspace listed by them as valuable and not to be disposed of but protected. Work that on out. What use LA policies when the LA does not apply them and even breaches them.

Wrote to CWAC Estates asking them not to sell this land. No reply. Others at CWAC informed, and a meeting promised by CWAC Customer Relations with officers regarding management of our local street scene. Agenda yet to be defined. Hoping it included management of open and green space that is assessed as in shortfall in this area..

1. having written to CWAC opposing the sale of this land still waiting to hear the decision. 2. response to questions from cllrs, although not ones supposed to represent this ward, have so far been met with comprehensive but defensive and seemingly flawed answers favouring decisions taken to allow planning permission and about provisional agreement to sell. 3. the matter is under consideration, and an update will follow.

Since I wrote others have also objected to the sale. I have had no feedback from my ward cllrs but have from some others. this tells me the proposed sale is undergoing some sort of review. I have heard nothing more from the LA and this protracted issue seemingly at this stage remains unresolved. If it was not made clear previously this area is in assessed shortfall of open and green space and all such irrespective of quality is supposed to be protected based on an adopted 2011 report to council. Why then sell such open greenspace that is listed in the Local Plan part 1 for such as none critical car parking need?

I have not been informed but I am told unofficially a review of LA policy is being undertaken. If and when I hear anything I will update this comment.

No change. I understand the review is still taking place but know nothing about its nature or findings. I will report again when I know something.

I have heard nothing more about this since the last review. As I understand it the LA still has it under consideration.

Goodness knows what is happening about this. After such a long wait for a review of council policy to do with this to be completed we still await a decision being published.

The saga goes on. As previously reported the LA opted for a review of its green spaces policy some months ago now. It has still not been reported, and the matter remains unresolved. I have asked via cllrs for an update several times but it has not been produced.
