Large branch fallen from dead tree across footpath on Kings Meads

Reported in the Trees (along Public Rights of Way) category anonymously at 01:35, Wed 11 April 2018

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later

A large branch from a dead tree came down in high winds last week (5th April?) and has fallen across the footpath on the King's meads and has also pulled down barbed wire between fence posts. I believe this dead tree has been reported to HCC previously by my neighbour whom was concerned this tree was dangerous and could cause injury.

Updates

  • I reported to the council over 2 years ago this particular tree looked dead along with some other trees in this vicinity and there is a danger to life whether this is human, pets or cattle which graze there. The tree has brought down the barbed wire fence and also goes across the pathway which makes it difficult to pass if you are elderly or have a disability. I do hope this is fixed and the remaining part of the tree which is a risk will be cut down to avoid any danger or further damage.

  • Within the last hour I investigated a loud thud to find that a second large branch has fallen across the footpath and brought down more barbed wire fencing. (Approx 10 metres long by 50 cm diameter). This is a well used path and I'm not being dramatic to say it could have caused serous injury or death if someone happened to be using it at that moment. Please fell this dead tree as matter of urgency.
