Pavement not fixed
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category by Daphne Dear at 22:57, Tue 10 April 2018
Sent to Hampshire County Council and Winchester City Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1277214.
Many months ago three areas of pavement outside no 2 Fairdown Close were marked out for repair. Eventually, two workers arrived and made an excellent job of resurfacing one of the marked areas but claimed not to have the other two areas down on their worksheet for attention. I pointed out the two marked areas to one of the gentlemen who said he would look into it and see that the work be completed. That was months ago and nothing has been done. The pavement is in a very poor state and is dangerous to walk on because the tarmac is crumbling and the surface is very uneven. We were originally told in approx. 2001 that this work was to be carried out after my elderly neighbour tripped outside her house and badly injured herself. The pavement area outside her house was resurfaced but seventeen years later the pavement outside no 2 has still not been fully repaired. Can somebody please come and finish the job a.s.a.p.

We have had no word from anyone about this problem other than the usual standard acknowledgement of the council receiving the notification. We now have a spectacular display of weeds growing from the broken tarmac which could rival any of the Wild Flower Gardens at Chelsea Flower Show.

The repairs to the pavement outside our bungalow which were started many months ago remains the same. Three sections were marked out for repair but only one section actually completed. It was so long since the pavement was marked out that the markings have faded and vanished under an array of weeds which grow through the broken tarmac.

Nothing has been done about the pavement. The weeds are growing higher, the Tarmac is breaking up and the general appearance of our little Close is that of total neglect .

The pavement has not been repaired and neither has the road been swept for months. It looks an absolute shambles.
