Abandoned Trolley/Trolley's and Rubbish
Reported anonymously at 17:45, Sun 18 March 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1249514.
The walk way along the path from Lidl to the Ley's is satiated with rubbish from kids going to school in the morning leaving their McDonald containers, drink cans and other rubbish brought from the garage, Lidl and McDonalds. The rubbish is thrown into the bushes and the brooks along this path. It is an eyesore and not good for the environment. Last week there was a flood because the brook was blocked in Lidl carpark. Much of this blockage coursed by plastic waste. Along with this problem are trolley's from either, Sainsbury's or Lidl being discarded and then picked up by the kids who throw them into the brooks. There are two and one feeds into the main river taking plastic that ends up in the Witney Lake. I have contacted both Lidl and Sainsbury about this and Lidl have tried though some trolley's still go walk about as they can be chained to itself with the £1 system. These are the kids trolley's and Lidl will not sort this problem out as customers leave these ones close to the path where the kids get hold of them. Sainsbury does not have a £1 system on their trolley's and they end up all over Witney. Sainsbury have been informed five times about the one left in the brook and have not come to collect it. If they had a £1 system, then they would not go missing. There were four in the brook altogether on one day last month. They have even ended up on the other side of town left abandoned. The local school could do with dealing with the rubbish problem because I noted when looking from the Ley's, after school that their own back yard is full of rubbish. Who is responsible to keep Witney free of rubbish in these area's? Yours!

Unfortunately Sainsbury's has not removed the two trolley's that have been pushed into the brook along the walk from Lidl. There is a lot of litter in this brook and it flows down to the main river taking much of the plastic with it. Many of the younger generation throw their rubbish along this path into both brooks as there are no litter bins on route until you get to the Ley's. I have been in touch with Sainsbury several times about their trolley's and they have promised to have them picked up and yet more than two months later, the trolley's are still in the brook and I feel it is also poor on the Council that they have also done very little in litter clearing in Witney. I would say our town is quite a mess and awash with litter from many of the outlets.

It would appear that both the Council and Sainsbury are not interested in removing the trolley's from the brook or indeed picking up discarded trolley's that litter area's of Witney. Both these two giants have failed in their ability to prove they want a better town when in fact it is all about the money and who is in whose pocket.

Sainsbury is not interested in picking up the trolley's. There is another one added to the mix. The council have also not got back to say they are contacting Sainsbury to remove them. These have been sitting upside down in the brook since February. As normal for Witney, There is little or no interest to keep the Town clean. People here care more about how much their houses are worth. The kids run around like they own the town and the council as usual just sit on their behinds and do nothing.
