PRoW Signage Midhurst Way Feeder Path at Easebourne.

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category by John. D Trueman at 14:13, Wed 21 February 2018

Sent to West Sussex County Council 1 minute later

This PRoW footpath starts 50 yards south of Cowdray Farm Shop and Cafe on the estate road now renamed The Midhurst Way. It travels north-east and crosses the A272. Unsigned it follows the road eastwards, and then darts north-east across the Golf Course to the Midhurst Way proper. It is a popular short-cut. The signage is poor and misleading. On the map the path is shown crossing a field to a gate in the ha ha which follows the A272, but in practise the path has been diverted along the chicken runs, north to the road, and then east to the gate in the A272. It is confusing, especially if you're approaching from the Lodsworth and Tillington direction. (Every year we celebrate Sussex Day on the 16th June with a guided walk from Tillington to the Farm Shop Cafe with bus return). With wedding and other events now in full swing at Cowdray House (formerly Cowdray Park House), this route and others close-by are being used more and more. A survey of signage is recommended.

Here is the Midhurst Way - usually in two parts (a) Arundel to Midhurst and (b) Midhurst to Haslemere. The route is available on many websites. walk-1425-description
