Sent to West Sussex County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1213016.

Manhole cover is loose gradually getting worse as tarmac moves/crumbles around it. This manhole is located on the Northbound carriageway A284 by Water Lane Littlehampton; it was resurfaced a while ago and the problem is crumbling tarmac around manhole cover. Asphalt has moved and is in need of repair. When vehicles go over it, the manhole metal cover moves and the tarmac appears to be crumbling around it. When vehicles directly drive over metal cover, the sound is noticeable.

  • Endorse the above description . The tarmac is breaking up and the whole unit is now rocking. The noise is very loud especially at night.

  • Here is the cover and it is clearly loose. I have contacted my local County Councillor to help get this faulty cover fixed properly. When the cover is rolled over by a vehicle it sounds loud and is disturbing sleep at night.
