Narrow foot/cycleway, poor surface, encroachment of vegetation/accumulation of debris/mud
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 21:15, Mon 22 January 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1192022.
On the southern cycleway along the A40, the foot/cycleway on the eastern side of the Duke's Cut/Rail bridge is very narrow at the point where the crash barriers start, and potentially a danger to cyclists.
The crash barriers themselves narrow the pavement, forcing a cyclist to move towards the hedgerow/drop (!) on the southern edge.
Encroachment of the vegetation on the path further narrows the way.
At this point, there is also apparent subsidence of the path, resulting in adverse camber "around" the barrier. This along with both the accumulation of mud/leaves/etc on the path, and the growth of grass tufts along in the longitudinal crack that has formed due to the subsidence, is starting to make this part of the route potentially dangerous to cyclists, especially in poor/wet weather and in the dark where glare makes it harder to navigate safely.

The narrowing of the footpath is now considerably worse. Overhanging brambles have further reduced the width of available path to cycle on, forcing cyclists closer to the crash barrier to avoid being lacerated by the bramble thorns, or having clothing snag on the thorns. Please can the vegetation be cut back so that the full width of the cycle path is available to be used. Thank you.
