Metal barriers across the bridleway

Reported in the Footpaths/ Rights of way (usually not tarmac) category anonymously at 15:33, Friday 12 January 2018

Sent to Norfolk County Council 2 minutes later

Bacton BR 13. Where the bridleway passes by Bacton Wood Mill Farm, two heavy, free-standing metal barriers are being maintained, staggered across the bridleway. I am unable to ride through these barriers, without dismounting. I recently tried to move one of the barriers, to enable me to ride through, but it toppled over, in front of me. My foot would have been injured as a result, were if not for the fact that I happened to be wearing safety boots. The barriers are heavy, and a curved shape, making them extremely difficult for a member of the public to manoeuvre safely, not least, if attending a horse or bicycle.

Also, the barriers are dark coloured, and their presence across the highway is virtually impossible to spot, after dark. It is only through knowing them to be there, that I've managed to avoid collision!

The entire legal width of the bridleway need to be kept permanently free of these barriers. There's no lawful or legitimate reason for them to be present.
