Grass verge is being destroyed

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 13:24, Fri 12 January 2018

Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1181969.

From 3pm every school day more than 20 cars are parked on the grass verge on Ethel Road, opposite Mayflower primary school. In addition more than a dozen cars are illegally parked partly on the pavement on the other side of the Road, with little thought for passing pedestrians. With the winter wet weather this grass verge is being destroyed day by day. I appeal to the council and/or police to do something about this anti-social behaviour. The neighbourhood is being spoiled.

  • I received a response from Linda Mason at Leicester City Council:

“At this point in time we are only to enforce on this are between 08.00 & 09.00 Mon – Fri. After this time we are unable to enforce therefore vehicles can park on the grass verge.”

“Disappointing” would be one word to describe this reply. Several others come to mind.
