Parking bays too close to road junction.

Sent to Bolton Borough Council 4 minutes later
There are marked parking bays situated too close to the road junction of Chilham St. and St. Helens Rd. Bolton, making it difficult for drivers to turn out safely onto the main road. The Highway Code Rule 243 states "Do not park opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space." These marked parking bays which are too close to road junctions are also evident in many other locations in Bolton.
Repy from Bolton Highways Division:
I can advise that there have been no injury accidents at this junction in respect of motorists exiting/entering the junction of Chilham St and St Helens Road. Any restrictions promoted at this junction would require the promotion of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) which currently costs in excess of £3,000. The Department does not have funding available at this time to fund these types of intervention. That aside if we did promote a TRO the likelihood is that we would receive objections from residents given their limited parking provision and the scheme would fail. On this basis I am unable to support your request for waiting restrictions at this junction at this time. Bolton Council Highways Dept .are ignoring any requests to move these parking bays to a safe distance of 10 metres away from the road junctions, and creating a danger for all road users!!!

The council don't appear to care that their traffic calming measures are actually making our roads more dangerous!
