Today at approximately 1.30pm a number of vans sign written with a cladding company were parked on the footpath/road outside Wagamama, and barriers placed completely blocking the entire footpath. The barriers had signs written on them to alert you of the blockage in Welsh!!

Pedestrians including people with prams were forced to divert on to the road then continue to walk past at least 2 or 3 large vans whilst being directly approached by a large number of vehicles including lorries and buses with no protection or cordon. This goes completely against Department of Transport code of practice which specifically requires that "If your work is going to obstruct a footway or part of a footway, you must provide a safe route for pedestrians that should include access to adjacent buildings, properties and public areas where necessary. This route must consider the needs of those with small children, pushchairs and those with reduced mobility, including visually impaired people and people using wheelchairs or mobility scooters"
Was this closure and unsafe practise even properly sanctioned?
I spoke to a police man in a car waiting in the traffic on the Parade to voice my concerns who said he would speak with colleagues yet 20 minutes later still the same situation.
