Overhanging/unmaintained Leylandi trees

Reported in the Trees overhanging/obstructing the road or footpath category anonymously at 15:36, Monday 6 November 2017

Sent to Derbyshire County Council 4 minutes later

On the stretch of Linacre Road in between Barton Crescent and Oldridge Close there are numerous unmaintained leylandi trees.

As such, they are causing a public nuisance and obstruction to the public highway. I cannot utilise this section of public footpath without scraping my head on the overhanging branches.

They are moderately dry at the moment but under the weight of heavy rain, frost and snow they will be hanging down even further. During previous winters I have been forced dangerously close to the kerb side and moving traffic in order to navigate this section of footpath.

This has been going on for over three years. I have patiently given the matter the benefit of the doubt but this has now run out.

There are also signs of root damage to the public footpath, possibly from these same plantations?

Given that I see council vehicles up and down this road every day, perhaps you could also consider why no local authority personnel have ever proactively addressed this?
