Lights with reduced sequence resulting in traffic build up

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 13:33, Thu 2 November 2017

Sent to Aberdeen City Council 2 minutes later

The lights at the junction of Rousay Drive and the Lang Stracht have been problematic for the last few weeks during rush hour (4-5pm, can't comment on other times as not there then). Coming out of Rousay Drive, they only allow a couple of cars through before changing to red, resulting in a build up of traffic on Rousay Drive. The lights appear to allow 2 "batches" of traffic through along the Lang Stracht straight after each other. This has a knock on effect on surrounding roads as queues tail onto Eday Road, and traffic leaving Tesco turns left to Eday Road and then builds up on Stronsay Drive to get back to the Lang Stracht.

  • I had a similar issue this week but around 9pm. I was exiting Rousay Drive onto Lang Stracht when the lights changed quickly to red then back to green again. All that time traffic on Lang Stracht was on red. I'll report separately to ACC as they don't respond to FIXMYSTREET reports!
