The current procedure for requests is to initially assess the lighting already in place. If after checking this and carrying out a site visit, it is found that extra lighting is needed then we have to consider the best / most practical location for the new light.
Consultation letters would then be issued to residents detailing our proposal and asking for their opinion. We have to remember that just because one resident thinks an extra light would be a good idea, it does not mean that others will, and it’s best to reach an agreement with residents about the locations of lights before any work is carried out. If consultation letters are issued then we allow one month for feedback before making any decisions.
If we decide to proceed we shall issue an order to our contractors who will carry out the work as soon as is practical.
Please note that there is not an exact set time frame for this whole process and no guarantee that new lighting will be will installed as such requests are dependent on future budget availability.
Having said all the above we note that the St Peters Road has yet to be upgraded with LED lanterns. This work is due to be carried out next year and we feel it would be prudent to wait for the new lanterns to be fitted before carrying out any assessment of the lighting.
