Re-positioning of National Speed limit signs
Reported in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 10:03, Sat 28 October 2017
Sent to Northumberland County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1134175.
The National Speed limit signs were put here before our own property and those further up the road on the opposite side were built. Several cars, children and dogs coming and going. Very large lorries hurtle down this hill to the T junction and residents on both sides would like the signs to be re-positioned further up the hill on the Meldon & Bolam Road and well beyond both driveways on either side of the road to make them slow down before they reach the village where they then have to screech to a halt . There is no street lighting either on this road, the residential end of Meldon Road.

Since the erection of these signs, more houses have been built further up the Meldon Road. Traffic drives into the village from Meldon at considerable speed, the large grain lorries in the summer being a particular problem as they have little room to slow down before the T junction at the main road. Traffic needs to start slowing down further up the road and similarly traffic leaving the village speeds up too soon.
