Missing and confusing road markings

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 14:11, Tue 24 October 2017

Sent to Lancashire County Council 4 minutes later

The South West bound sliproad from Strand Road onto the A59 Penwortham flyover has two lanes, the left lane has always been marked with white cross hatching, showing you should only use the right hand side of the sliproad.

This white hatching has faded to being almost invisible, until you reach the top of the sliproad where it was repainted as part of the resurfacing works on the flyover itself, meaning it suddenly restarts without warning.

This means that people who don’t know the road get almost to the top of the slip road where you merge with the A59 in the left hand lane and are suddenly confronted with being in a lane that has hatching all over it and that shows they shouldn’t be in it, just as they should be paying attention to merging with traffic already on the A59.

I have previously reported this and thought it may have been repainted as part of the recent works on Strand Road, but this hasn’t happened.

The attached picture shows the affected area, but the lines on the first (Northern) part of the sliproad are now all but invisible.
