Parked cars causing a bottleneck

Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 19:07, Wed 18 October 2017

Sent to Hartlepool Borough Council 3 minutes later

18-10-17 Vehicles parked on this bend on Merlin Way create a bottleneck and a potential safety problem. The parked cars turn a two way main road into one lane, causing vehicles to overtake them, sometimes into oncoming traffic. With the vehicles parked there, the forward view is restricted on a double bend. Additionally this is now a bus route which would benefit from a smooth flow of traffic. The council could consider installing parking bays as there is plenty of space available with grass verges on the side of the road.

  • The cars are still parking and causing the bottleneck. My suggestion of creating parking bays would be expensive to implement and if the council were to look into this problem I would expect it to take some time. In the meanwhile vehicles are still having to overtake on this awkward bend.

  • This is still an oustanding problem causing obstruction on the bend
