Wooden highway fence falling down

Sent to Hampshire County Council and New Forest District Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1118737.

Wooden fence edge of milford road from location point to newbridge drive cottages the wood fence is collapsing. The public sometimes sit on the fence especially when waiting for a lift or for the bus etc. People have to use this side of the road & go onto the highway grass verge as NO footpaths

  • Fence between otter nurseries & the a337 milford road is such poor state of repair that someone may get hurt. Ie ive seen people sit on the fence. If they try that, then they will collapse & likely be injured.

    The wood fence is in partial state of collapse

  • I often see tourists walking this route & they stop & sit on the fence. I fear the fence collapsing & injuries being caused. if council not the liable for maintenance of the fence, can they ask the owner to fix it as a safety risk to highway users & pedestrians

  • If the council is not the owner of the fence, can they contact the actual owner as thugs could in theory take part of the fence & place it in the road. Its a sad thing but that is what thugs do ie use lose items to commit crimes etc.
