Paving around college green extremely slippery when wet and leafy.

I slipped, fell and grazed my knee and ripped my trousers . I'm 30 and sporty. Someone who is older or less sure on their feet could have a really bad slip there. The paving in college green looks lovely. It is very in keeping but it is too smooth and so becomes very slippery when wet especially now as leafs start to fall. There is some paving nearer the cathedral that is more distressed and therefore has grip. Not sure if the paving will gain grip over time or with work or if a different surface is needed. Please investigate.
