A 100 meter stretch of payment is reduced to half its width or less, from the junction with Mayfield Park South and Whitefield Road, towards the direction of Duncome Lane. Schoolchildren going to the BBA Senior school, who walk up Mayfield Park South, have no option but to be funnelled along this narrowing path. This is because the to of Mayfield Park South is a four way junction and includes a blind bend. To try and cross Whitefield road there would be suicide. Hence the children have to follow the narrow path along Whitefield road to cross at the island. It is only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or worse, as pedestrians are forced to walk by the edge of the kerb next to this busy road. The road also bends in towards the pavement at the island, making contact more likely. As the days get shorter and the weather worsens, one slip could see someone under a car. This section of path is so narrow, that if someone is coming the other way, one person has to step into the road to allow passing. I have taken photos. Please could you arrange for the trees to be cut back as a matter of urgency, so the full pavement width can be used again. I do not know if this has been reported previously but it has been getting steadily worse, and as the children are now back at school, has become urgent. I would appreciate an update on when the work could be done so this can be relayed to the other worried and affected parents in the area. Kind regards Anthony Harper
