Extremely congested, dangerous rat run

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 09:23, Thu 14 September 2017

Sent to Edinburgh City Council 2 minutes later

Yesterday, on trying to navigate along this street in the crazy rain, I once again, and for the thousandth time, and since 2005, so 12 years of this, i found it gridlocked with vehicles rat running from the Western Approach Road, Roseburn St, and Russell Road, it was jammed again, its been like this for years, it needs a bollard half way down it to traffic calm it, I plan on reporting this ad nauseam until it is dealt with, its so incredibly bad that words just fail me, and considering that the majority of traffic is NON RESIDENTIAL, the fact that anyone can just use it as a cut through, in the face of local residents is just a slap in the face really for everyone living here. Its oversubscribed, by a massive massive amount. I dread to think what the Nitrogen Dioxide levels are, if you are in any doubt, why not ask the lollipop lady, or stick a camera along this street for a week and see it all for yourselves??? Its not hard to justify a bollard once you see exactly how bad it is in this street which is just over 100m long, 25 cars at once is too many. Especially for hours at a time. Sort it out please eh??

  • Actually this morning the street was gridlocked YET AGAIN, traffic completely blocking the street, children trying to get to school, people trying to get to work, ALL HELD UP because of the severe oversubscription of traffic in the street, the pollution fog was VISIBLE to the naked eye, DO SOMETHING.

  • Still not fixed, still an awful rat run, still choked with cars and pollution, still terrible levels of pollution here. When will something be done that does not prioritise the needs of a lot of selfish rat running motorists over the local populations health and wellbeing????????????? got an answer for that?
