Dangerous pedestrian crossing point. Holt Lane.

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 09:47, Thursday 20 July 2017

Sent to Halton Borough Council 3 minutes later

Now that Northway at Halton Lea has been opened up to two-way traffic a dangerous situation has been created at the roundabout at the bottom of Holt Lane. Because of the bushes it is impossible for pedestrians using the official footpath from Halton Lea towards the Town Park to see traffic approaching from Northway. These bushes on the corner need to be removed if this road layout is to remain. The situation is made worse by the fact that traffic from Northway onto Holt Lane is often accelerating around this "blind bend" once they see that they have a clear run onto the roundabout.

Updates

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 20:28, Thursday 17 August 2017

  • Halton Borough Council have cut back the bushes and reduced the height of a hedge that was causing visibility problems but this has only improved the situation and is not the total answer. Taller people can see approaching traffic more clearly than before but shorter people and those on mobility scooters still cannot see over the hedge. I will contact HBC and suggest that they remove the hedge completely.
