Large potholes on roundabout

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 12:36, Thu 25 May 2017

Sent to Hampshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1043072.

On the Castle Street roundabout there are long potholes in the road surface which have been there for at least a year (see the above Google Streetview picture from May 2016)

I ride a moped and if I am coming from Castle Street, turning right onto the A27 east bound towards Portsmouth, I have to avoid these or risk my wheel hitting one and destabilising my machine.

Also, further round, on the east bound exit of the roundabout towards Portsmouth there are several other places where the road surface needs fixing.

See https://www.google.co.uk/ maps/ @50.8472,-1.1234519,3a,75y,43.49h,78.11t/ data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjXUIOe12rgmBOvni2jIBBw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I would also point out that the whole road surface on that roundabout has become worn and polished such that, in wet weather, it can be very slippery.

Please rectify these issues urgently as they are very dangerous for two-wheel road users.

  • Apparently, according to a reply from the Council this is to be fixed "later this year", although there were no details as to when.
