I wish to report ongoing dangerous parking in Writtle Road between the railway bridge and Upper Bridge Road. Cars started parking on the Writtle bound side last year, this was then augmented when building work began on the old hotel site. Recently cars have begun parking on both sides of the road. This causes a number of problems
1. coming over a blind summit , particularly on the Chelmsford bound side one is often faced with oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road, especially if they are also attempting to overtake a bike 2. there is scarcely enough room for two cars to pass each other where the traffic is parked on both sides, causing cars to have to wait . This causes congestion at the Upper Bridge Road junction and often backs down as far as the traffic lights 3 cars from Upper Bridge Road are often having to pull out to turn right in a double manouver as they cannot get enough swing. 4 the route is used by buses and lorries, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to pass, particularly as some cars park well out onto the road 5 today a car was trying to parallel park at the brow of the hill, causing dangerous confusion as cars behind waited and cars coming over the hill were faced with a car slewed across the road. 6 the pavement is becoming increasingly congested, sometimes it is difficult for two pram pushers to get past each other.
While I understand the building work and the scaffolding to the flats has added to the number of vehicles, their presence has encouraged others to park and it has snowballed. The whole traffic situation along Writtle road is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to negotiate, and I feel it warrants some investigation
