Bollard broken in Holly Grove

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 08:07, Mon 15 May 2017

Sent to Hampshire County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1037358.

Unfortunately another bollard has been demolished overnight at the junction of Kiln Road and Holly Grove. While I appreciate that there are rules regarding the use of 'hard' bollards in such situations, these plastic ones are just ripe for vandalising. As the bollard was standing last night, I suspect this damage was caused by someone who thought it a huge joke during the hours of darkness. Please can it be sorted quickly as it makes the road look so down at heel when such things happen. If you want the broken bollard I have placed it in the corner of Holly Stores car park. Thanks

  • A surveyor arrived within a day and made a note of the problem. I spoke to him and he said the bollard would be replaced 'in the end'. At the moment the hole in the pavement woud be filled for safety reasons. A crew turned up after about 4 or 5 days later and filled the hole with tarmac. However, they left it rather proud of the surrounding pavement creating a hump. About a week later another crew turned up to level the tarmac! Seems to me, unless the council is having to save up to buy the bollard, they've already spent more in labour than would have been the case if they'd sent a crew along with the bollard first time round. In fact, as they had a photo supplied by me, they could have also avoided sending the surveyor as well! Crazy.
