I am writing to formally report the extremely poor condition of the road and pavement in our area, particularly the extensive weeds and grass growing between the road surface and the pavement/kerb.

The level of weed and grass growth has now become completely unacceptable. In numerous areas, substantial weeds and grass are growing directly from the edges of the road and between the road and pavement. This gives the entire street a neglected, untidy and poorly maintained appearance. The current condition looks absolutely disastrous and requires urgent attention.

To the best of our knowledge, we have not seen the council or its contractors attend to remove or treat these weeds for at least the last 18 months. Basic maintenance of the road edges and public pavements appears to have been neglected for a considerable period of time, allowing the problem to progressively worsen.

This is particularly frustrating given the continued increases in Council Tax that residents are required to pay. Residents reasonably expect that increasing Council Tax contributions will be reflected in an appropriate standard of maintenance of our local roads, pavements and surrounding public areas. At present, the condition of the street does not reflect the level of Council Tax being collected from residents.

There is also a separate but related issue concerning the deteriorating condition of the road surface. Potholes are developing in the road, and I have submitted/reported these separately. Taken together with the extensive weed and grass growth, the overall condition of the road is becoming increasingly poor and gives the impression that routine maintenance of this area has been overlooked.

I would therefore request that the council:

1. Arrange for the weeds and grass growing along the road and pavement edges to be removed as soon as possible. 2. Treat the affected areas appropriately to prevent rapid regrowth. 3. Inspect the wider street to identify any other areas requiring weed cl
