Double manhole and road surface sinking, near Mill road.

Reported by Christopher Blomfield at 11:39, Friday 29 July 2022

This manhole is sinking due to the high number of large tipper lorries going and returning to Oday hill nearby.Because the manholes are sinking the large empty tipper lorries and others are striking the manholes with force and the noise resonates across to houses on Coleridge Drive and many others in the vicinity at all hours of the day and night with the consequent disruption to normal daytime life and at night. There are a number of retired people in the area who obviously have to tolerate the noise more than others because of spending more time at home. It is because these large lorries are empty that they make all the noise when striking the manholes, tipper lorries in particular because they have aluminium bodies that are very noisy. This problem needs fixing before an accident occurs because of the deterioration of the road surface as well.
