Gravel surface on Unthank Road

Reported anonymously at 08:44, Tue 3 August 2021

The gravel and tar treatment on Unthank Road is unsuitable for an urban street. Moreover, the job has been done badly. It is an unsuitable surface because it throws up an enormous amount of dust - see photo. For the same reason sitting at any of the outlets on Unthank Road was impossible without being covered in a grey film. A colleague who cycled down Unthank Road yesterday said it was simply too dangerous because of the stones thrown up by cars. It would have been scarcely less dangerous for pedestrians. For drivers there is another problem. I don't know if the road was scraped before the treatment but there are now a series of ridges in the middle of the road in the area of the co-op store.
