Vehicles constantly parking on yellow lines, and needs to address traffic levels in West Street

Reported anonymously at 12:54, Tue 2 June 2020

Since the easing of the lockdown there is a constant stream of vehicles parking on the yellow lines in West Street - often parking on the pavement, with engines running, people sitting in their cars eating or using their phones loudly in their vans/cars then driving off - not delivering to the street. For residents in the street sometimes there are deliveries, fair enough. However its yellow lines for a reason and not a layby or car park. The disruption by noise and pollution to those in houses nearby is not acceptable - its a side road in a conservation area, not a car park. Please please could there be repainted yellow lines and ‘no idling’ and ‘engines off’ signs, plus traffic wardens back in action. Living in the street 7 years, have only noticed this problem getting worse in the last three years. Ideally West Street could be residents only and blocked off in the same way as Victoria Road - its a narrow street with pavement only on one side - making it difficult to safely social distance or cycle. Days when traffic uses the street as a run to get onto the high street are not acceptable in terms of noise, pollution or vibrations to the ancient houses in the street.
