<description>There are pile of loose chippings from the top-dressing of Heol Ddu on the approach to the junction. These make a very loose surface as they are sitting on the large metal manhole covers. I've seen several cars skid as they've approached the junction with Wern Ddu.

<title>Water running on road, freeze hazard, 24th November, SA18 2NP</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/214888</link>
<description>There is a semi permanent stream running alongside the eastern verge. I suspect a ditch is blocked/poorly maintained inside the hedgerow, which then seeps through the bank, through the verge and onto the road. I then runs some 40m down to the next culvert. Howevere, over the last few days I have noticed that the water is carried by vehicles almost 200m down the road. Once the frost hits this will make this stretch of road very dangerous (there were multiple accidents on this stretch of road last winter due to ice combined with the super-slippery new road surface).

There is a separate problem when the hedge is trimmed and the tractor blocks the culverts and the water follows the tracks left by the weight of the vehicle.

<title>Cement spilled onto road, 24th November, SA18 2NP</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/214887</link>
<description>The recently surfaced road now has an eight foot fresh cement mix spilled onto it. Looks like it fell from the vehicle that dropped off the pile this morning for the ongoing piazza development. As well as being harmful to the environment, the aggregate mix includes small stones, which will pose a significant hazard to other road users and especially motorcyclists.

<title>Dangerous road surface, 17th October, SA19 8TH</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/207967</link>
<description>Road surface is dangerous and breaking up along this stretch for about a mile, various potholes which have had a repair attemted by council, leaving the road surface in a worse condition. I personally wittnessed a council van throwing shovel fulls of tarmac from the back of a pick up and just leaving it for motorists to drive over, making a mess of passing vechicles and the road! The main problem here is a quarry situated on this stretch of road, with large trucks full of stone wrecking the road surface, and leaving grey muck, piles of stones falling from the trucks on the road. This makes this stretch of road which is full of blind bends a death trap for motorcycles!

<description>The road surface here is very dangerous, especially for motorcycles. The surface has potholes and in various areas has broken up. This has been like this for at least 12 months. Various attempts have been made to repair it, but the repairs have left it even more dangerous!

<title>Speeding vehicles, 8th October, SA38 9HX</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/206610</link>
<description>Dear Sirs,

Having now lived on this road for just over two years we have become increasingly aware of the dangers of speeding traffic made worse by lack of street lighting and pavements. This stretch is poorly signposted for 40mph and is constantly ignored by motorists having speeded downhill from the direction of Waungilwen.

Cannot this stretch be made into a 30mph zone not unlike the approach to Newcastle Emlyn?

Having spoiken to many neighbours I am in no doubt they would agree to a man that this is indeed a real problem that needs to be addressed asap -funds permitting as always.

Kind regards

Graham Thompson Paperstone Cottage Pentrecagal Newcastle Emlyn SA389HX 01 559 3670 657

<title>Interference With Public Highway, 30th September, SA38 9DB</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/205296</link>
<description>The area indicated on the map has been re surfaced and has had the kerbs moved by a resident. He now instructs drivers not to turn around on this area as he states that it is private property, as far as I am aware it is a public highway. This is an area where drivers who use the lane can turn around to travel back up the single track lane in a forward direction. This forces them to reverse up the lane. Which is a hazard to pedestrians and is a danger to themselves and other vehicles when reversing on to the main lane.

<title>Blocking Road, 26th September, SA38 9DB</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/204540</link>
<description>The lane shown on the map is single track and a dead end. The area indicated on the map is an area where drivers who use the lane can turn around to travel back up the lane in a forward direction. A resident has taken it upon themselves to re-tarmac the lower end of the lane, move kerbs etc and prevent drivers from turning around, forcing them to reverse up the lane. Which is a hazard to pedestrians etc.

<title>Litter-Rats, 15th September, SA14 8RY</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/203096</link>
<description>There is litter and rubbish spilling out in the entry which belongs to to the house on the left hand side before No 13 they never put out the rubbish. On Sunday I visited the area and there was a rat which was chased off by a large ginger tom cat. Its unsightly and a health hazard. I asked No13 why she did not ask the neighbour to clean it up but she was reluctant to upset her neighbour.

<title>Blockage of drainage ditch by garden and building refuse, 8th April, SA39 9AS</title>
<link>http://www.fixmystreet.com/report/178637</link>
<description>This is concerning a narrow single track road that leads from the Pencader-Gyddgrug road down to Avondale. This road was last cleaned 3 years ago, at my request, after several barrow loads of mud had been deposited on the side of the road bordering the Sunny Hill property and blocking the flow of water down the roadside.Let me explain. The water runoff from the main road, which can be quite considerable at times, comes down this lane on the right in a small gutter/ditch and then into a soakaway in a field.Or at least it used to, or at least along side Sunny Hill it used to.For the rest of the way it more or less sticks to the ditch, but then there is still a ditch, just about, unlike alongside Sunny Hill, wherein lies the problem you see? You dont? Let me explain further.A good 2 foot of your road has gone missing and I know where it is.It's been buried under 3 years worth of slow but steady accumulation of garden waste, building rubble, litter, stones, cementwashings, creosote, tarmac chippings, cuddly toy - no not the cuddly toy but if an unwanted one was available I could hazard a guess as to where it would end up.Oh and did I mention the whole lot has been surmounted by a very pretty row of white quartz boulders.Christ I'd really hate to hit one of those if I fell off my bike.Which I suppose is not an unlikely possibility given the state of the road surface there. It's amazing how water streaming down the middle of a narrow lane like this can produce such a rapid deterioration in the road surface - there's a hell of a pot hole developed, must be 20 foot long.Considerably worse than last year when I brought the problem to your attention. You know it's funny, we've lived here 20 years,I mean the lane doesn't get a lot of traffic, it's never been a problem, quite a nice little lane in fact, good road surface too,the occaisional clean in the autumn to sweep up the leaves, usually do it myself, hope you dont mind, wouldn't want to put anyone out of a job or anything. But no it is strange that ever since the people who live in Sunny Hill sued you over some loose chippings on the main road and got you to re-tarmac the pavement outside their house 'cos they reckoned muddy rain water was going down their drive and demanded you put in an underground drain rather than let the nasty muddy rain water come down this lane, someone has definately and without a shadow of a doubt been using this lane as a midden. I suppose one could be forgiven for thinking it all got washed down here from the main road, but then as I say, we've lived here 20 years and we can't recall a tsunami ever coming down this way, which apart from a human agency is the only way I can think it all got there.
Anyway,I digress, this lane needs cleaning and some potholes need fixing - cheers.
