OK, second update. The council informed me that it would be fixed by 10 Dec 2009. It is now nearly then end of Jan 2010. Still no new sign.

The council emailed me to say that this would be fixed within 42 days (by 28/09/2009). It is now nearly the end of October, and guess what? It's still not been fixed.
