Cambridge City Council

New problems

  • Collections
The public refuse bins in this area are regularly full and spilling over. Why are they not emptied very regularly given the proximity to Asda and Beehive Centre? We await the wasps with trepidation.
  • Excrement in middle of footpath

  • Dog noise (sent to both)
Small yelping dogs at all times of day and night, up to midnight is common, 1am to 2am, 4am to 5am not too unusual a time of day for this, and in the summer when people are keeping their windows open, sleep is impossible with these loud high pitched yelping and snarls as the animal(s) - there are 4 dogs in total, wake up the whole street. Its incredibly annoying, sleep is impossible sometimes for more than 3 hours at a time on occasion. Please advise, I dont think these people are open to discussion much, they seem unconcerned that they might be bothering other people, probably cant hear them for the noise.
  • Rubber surface breaking up
The rubber safety surface is breaking up in the children's playground at the north corner of Christ's Pieces. There are holes at the base of the slide and to its side.

  • Basketball Court Ruined
Dear Council, I write to report that the basketball court has been ruined. The minor problem is that the basketball hoop at one end has been torn down and stolen.. The major problem, unfortunately, it probably your fault. What possessed you to combine a football pitch onto the basketball court when there was previously an excellent football area on the grass? The misguidedness of this move is quite spectacular resulting in the following negative impact: 1. Basketballers and football players now have to share a space. Previously they were able to both play simultaneously - surely a much more desirable situation. 2. Footballers have commented (I spoke with several young boys last weekend) that the court is more dangerous to play on since any tackles might result in injury. This was illustrated rather clearly by cuts and grazes on knees and elbows. 3. The football area infringes on the basketball court, cutting playing area and, with its large blue metal structure, making it much more dangerous to play on. 4. The new hoops, replacing the perfectly functional old ones, are missing the hooks that enable a net to be put up. Any basketball player will report that the net is an essential part of the enjoyment of the game. Last year I contributed, at my own cost, nets to the park for the benefit of all guests. Returning this year I am not even able to donate a net! I have cobbled together a temporary fix with garden ties but *please* put up some basketball hoops with net hooks. Ideally I would ask that you remove this ugly and non-functional blue structure and reinstate the previous basketball-only court. Basketball cannot be played on grass. Football not only can - but is actually more fun and safe on grass. At the very least, please replace the missing hoop (and the existing one) with hoops that can take basketball nets. Thank you for your time. Best wishes, Daniel Watts 70 Coleridge Road.
  • Litter bin still not replaced (sent to both)
Bin adjacent to bus stop outside Milcroft Ct. Mill Road was removed. Bus travllers deposit food and drink on pavement and in nearby gardens!!

  • Large accumulation of litter (sent to both)
Side of Mill Road Bridge. Not far from council depot! Just other side behind railings
  • Fencing around recreation area
The recreation area has been abandoned in an unfinished state. There is no fence surrounding the equipment. There is no fence between the open ground and Arbury Road. There is nowhere for parents/guardians to sit within reach of the facilities. There is no bin within the recreation area. The result: lots of litter, dogs come into the play area foul and threaten children, ball games are played next to a busy road. Teenagers use equipment to meet and socialise because there's nowhere else to sit. Parents/carers forced to stand up. Please could this recreation area be improved with the safety and enjoyment of its users in mind?
  • Unused phone box (sent to both)
Not been used for at least a year and attracts graffiti/litter. Could it be removed??
  • Phone boxes on Mill Road Broadway (sent to both)
Both attract graffiti and fly posting. Interestingly one seems to have been abandoned by it's owner and has no phone! Can it be removed?

Old problems, state unknown

  • Taxis use area as car park
Taxis (mainly from Camcab) use an area outside the Elm St. garages near Emmanuel Road as a parking lot where they hang out. It can mean a lot of noise: radios, mobile phones, car doors slamming, loud conversations in the middle of the night. They sometimes sit for an hour with the motor running, only about 10 metres from the small terraced houses in Orchard St. Lots of carbon monoxide fumes. A Keep Out notice was put up a few weeks ago- it had an effect for a few days, but then they were back.
  • Foreign Student Coaches parking virtually every night
In addition to the countless vans, trucks, & damaged vehicle which are parked up by the nearby resident of Milton Road - Virtually every night 2 or more huge coaches are parked up. • Damaged and illegible street sign
The Chestnut Grove street sign has been damaged and you can no longer read the name of the street.
  • Frequent flooding (sent to both)
As you turn left off Sidgwick Ave onto Queens' Road, there is often a very large puddle. As there is oncoming or waiting traffic, it's impossible not to soak any unfortunate pedestrians on the pavement there. As it's a busy pedestrian crossing, there are frequently pedestrians there. Is there a blocked drain? Is there a drain at all?
  • Street used as a truck/van/car storage
A resident of Milton road has decided to use the road approaching the junction as a storage area for countless buses, recovery trucks, motorhome and 4x4 with a long trailer, old MG saloon, - all in need of repare All these make the road extremely narrow and makes the street look like a scrapyard.
  • 128? Mill Road (sent to both)
Bags of beer cans in trees adjacent to bridge, youi'll need a ladder or a long pole!
  • Graffiti on Harvey Goodwin Avenue Street Sign
Apparently premeditated graffiti using stencils and multiple layers of paint used to alter Harvey Goodwin Avenue sign. I suggest it needs removing soon to deter it happening elsewhere.
  • Noise from the Green Dragon pub (sent to both)
The drinkers who smoke and shout outside the Green Dragon pub (and in its beer garden) make life unbearable in Water Street for those unfortunate enough to live within earshot of the pub. I have lived in the street for several years. No care is taken by the pub to make sure that drinkers respect the peace. When spring finally arrives the people who frequent the pub will claim this space as their own, ruining the tranquility of the area with their noise and refusal to respect the fact that the pub in a residential area. Please could you do something about this?

Cars are parked on the narrow pavement blocking access for pedestrians on the eastern side of the road outside 23-29 Occupation Road. There appears to be water seeping up through the road surface. The water is seeping through some repaired sections in the road. I suspect this will turn to sheet ice if the temperature drops as forecast
  • Parking close to junction and cycle exits
Clerk Maxwell is used as a car park during the day. Not a problem except for the lazy people who park right up to the road junctions, and cycle exits from CAPE building and Park-n-Cycle. Double-yellow lines needed to inform these individuals of the 10m from junction law.

  • Gate obstructing (sent to both)
On the southern corner of Parkers Piese the bollards are sunk into the ground. Instead a gate is obstructing most of the area. This is a very busy place. It is also just where you actually need to be paying attention to various other things. This gate should be open. See also http://www.cyclestreets.net/location/20392/
  • Raw sewage coming back up the drain on Cameron Road (sent to both)
Raw sewage is coming out of the (kitchen water)drain outside the front door of No.38 Cameron Road. This constitutes a health hazard and needs dealing with promptly. Every time the washing machine/dishwasher/sink is used, more raw sewage is emptied onto the front of the property. Must be due to a sewage pipe that has frozen then cracked in these severe weather conditions.

Graffiti on comms cabinet needs cleaning off, also on cabinet just round the corner on Rustat Rd, opposite Rustat Av junction. Thanks
  • Residential car parking
Car parking has now reached a ridiculous level with the entire turning circle of the cul-de-sac being taken up by the cars and vans of only a handful of residences. Some residences have 4 vehicles parked down the street meaning that people are unable to be dropped off near their houses, which is especially a problem for the elderly. It also means that emergency vehicles cannot access houses if there were an emergency situation.
  • No gritting/salt provision on south pavement of Warwick Road (sent to both)
This pavement is north-facing and receives almost no sunlight. Even a slight frost makes it slippery, and in icy weather it can remain unthawed for weeks. Warwick Road is a thoroughfare to Histon Road for Mayfield Primary School and residents of a large number of side-streets in the area. The wide grass verge makes crossing back and forth to avoid the ice difficult.
  • New cycle lane is full of grit
New cycle lane is full of grit and dangerous for cycling
  • Graffiti on lit bollards
Along Bateman Street, there are a number of lit bollards separating the cycle lane and the road. Most (all?) of these have tagging, stencils or similar on them.
  • Graffiti on Hills Road bridge wall

A permanent problem here of people smashing bottles on the path. I've lost count of the punctures I've had due to this spot.
  • Very slippery pedestrian/cyclist bridge in cold weather (sent to both)
The wooden bridge along the river, under the railway line, gets iced over in cold weather. It is dangerous, causing falls and injury (speaking from personal experience).
  • Fallen tree branch
A branch of a tree has fallen on to the grass verge. The apples from this tree are all over the verge, footpath and the road. Passing yobs pick up these apples and throw them at the windows of neighbouring houses. This problem has existed for several months.

  • 267 Mill Road
Rubbish dump in front garden. Could some one have a word ..
  • Shocking childrens play area
This must be the worst kids play area in Cambridge which is continually strewn with bottles and cans and rubbish. The equipment is vandalised and worn out and the fence has now be broken down. For a reasonably good area and given the huge council tax revenue that must come from residents with children, this is simply not good enough and having spoken with many other parents they think the same. Please can you take action to resolve?
  • Learner drivers (sent to both)
There is an ongoing problem with learner drivers queueing to do 3 point turns in Woodhead Drive. They block the road for minutes at a time,at all times of the day and evening.Instructors need to find a private area set aside for this manouver and leave the road clear at all times.

"Melon" and other graffiti on the hoarding to the former CRC site.
  • Cars parking blocking driveway
Cars periodically park on the street in front of 188 Chesterton Road blocking the driveway. Is there anything you can do to help prevent this please?
  • Wadloes Road - Ditton Fields Path - Litter
The path between Wadloes Road and Ditton Fields is always filthy due to a combination of litter and flytipped rubbish. It is particularly bad at the moment. At the moment there are a lot of used McDonalds paper cups discarded there. I think a long term solution would require working with the neighbouring property owners to improve the physical nature of the area. Asking McDonalds if they can help keep the area clean might be worthwhile too.
  • Time for tree stakes to be removed
The lime trees planted on Longworth Avenue have stakes which supported them while they rooted, but the trees are now supporting the stakes, and the collars around the tree trunks are too tight.
  • Bins parked permanently on street

  • Public Conveniences shut
I've had a complaint that on a very busy day (Sunday 2nd Aug) on Lammas Land the public conveniences are locked. I can't find any contact details for this service by searching on the Council website, or from the A-Z services list as the link is broken, so am reporting through fixmystreet. Can you please let me know why the toilets are shut today, and investigate the lack of info about this service on the website, Thanks, Chris

I saw a rat running into the bushes in front of the library in the middle of the afternoon.
  • Large tree leaning dangerously
There is a very large tree which we are very concerned about as it is leaning at about 40 degrees towards our property on kinross road. I feel that a bad storm could bring this down resulting in major damage to our property and what would be a large claim to yourselfs. Please could this be look into as an urgent matter. Access to the tree is via pakenham Close but the tree can be viewed at the back of Kinross house where the tree can be seen fully.
  • Cycle path and Riverside Bridge in danger from joyriders (sent to both)
The parking area for Ransome Close is not fenced/bollarded meaning that 1)parked vehicles overhang the cycleway & 2) the bridge could be driven on to by joyriders. A vehicle fire could seriously damage the bridge! The entrance to the cycleway is bollarded, but anyone could drive straight through the carpark. Please ensure that any fence/bollards are installed on the Ransome Close land, not on the cyclepath.
  • Also damaged junction box
    Wires exposed
  • Alley next to Kymmoy
Lots of grafitti accumulated over time
  • Parking on pavements
The car parking on the pavement from the building site at the bottom of Gilbert Road up to beyond the busstop on the left side going up Gilbert Road is a menace and getting worse. Not only do cars park in the cycleway, but increasingly on the pavement making visibility for cars pulling out of their own driveways impossible. How long will this go on before one of the schoolchildren or other person is injured. I think that cars should not be allowed to park on pavements and that pavements should go back to being for pedestrian use only and if the width of the pavements was reduced back to the original size, cycle ways could be doubled in width allowing to 2-way cycle traffic along them. This would be better for everyone. Cyclists, myself included, are often loathe to cycle along the main roadways because this so often means going well out of their way because of the same restrictions as cars applying in most cases. We should adopt a more Dutch-type model for cycleways here. Then, more cyclists would use them and cars, bikes and pedestrians would all have their own space.
  • Weeds (sent to both)
Weeds at the edge of the pavement and at the edge of the roadside in both Warkworth Terrace and Warkworth Street need clearing
  • Ovefull Bins
Bins are full to overflowing - and it's early in the morning. They clearly haven't been emptied since yesterday. Race for life is happening this morning, with several thousand runners and their supporters. With all these visitors to our lovely city, I feel ashamed that we can't even keep our green spaces clean. Note: These bins are part of the race for life course and clearly visible, they really should be empty.
  • Graffiti on barrier and nearby lamppost
Graffiti has reappeared this week on the barriers between Hobart and Suez Road, selection of the usual tags, these people really should have been caught and stopped by now. Another tag on a lamppost just up Hobart Rd towards Coleridge Road. Please clean ASAP and report to the police, and let me know when this has been done, Thanks, Chris

  • Ford Mondeo likely abandoned

  • The Royal Mail needs to be informed that Cowley Park can no longer be reached from Cowley Road (sent to both)
I have noticed that businesses with the postcode CB4 0WZ are associated with an "official" Royal Mail address of Cowley Road. In fact, the buildings are on a road called "Cowley Park" (a.k.a. Cambridge Business Park), which is not accessible from Cowley Road since a road junction change was made about 12 months ago. Cowley Park is now only accessible from Milton Road. As I am concerned that the descriptive accuracy of the Royal Mail address is important for people who are trying to visit the businesses, I contacted Royal Mail (addressmaintenance@royalmail.com) about updating the official address. They told me that they could not do anything unless informed by the local council street naming & numbering department. Please can you arrange for them to be informed so that the official address can match reality?
  • Dog mess bin

  • Lamp-post on Romsey Town Recreation Ground
Lamp-post in the north-east corner of the recreation ground, near to Vinery Road: a catch seems to have sheared on the plate which covers up the junction box. At some point the plate has clearly been taped back on with PVC (electrical) tape, but this has fallen off too. I hope "parks" and not "street lighting" is the right place to send this, but as the light didn't have a county council street furniture number I assume this is because these lights come under a different authority.
  • On mural
On north side of bridge: on mural itsels and on both ends of ironwork
  • Dogs without a supervision
Owners of two dogs in Scarsdale Close do not supervise their dogs and let them run around. Consequently these dogs foul in the area, on the roads and the grass near houses. These are being left behind.

  • Vandalism and theft (sent to both)
Hi We moved into a new apartment block on the corner of Union lane and Scotland Road in July 2008, it would be fair to say we pay a premium to live there and add fresh income to the area in the form of council tax. We have had a series of targeted problems since moving into the area with our brick built cycle shed being burned down, all the vehicles in the car park being vandelised and had windows smashed for theft. And most recently the security barrior itself has been stolen and dumped in a near by garden. My neighbours have wlked into our car park at various times and come face to face with these people breaking into our cars, but the police seem unable to tackle the problem. We are all tennats and have come to the conclusion that we may all move out to safer areas, which I do not feel is the solution for Chesterton, it should be made safe.
  • Broken mesh fence
The mesh fence bordering the park and Primary Court has become flattened due to people climbing over it. I would suggest either fixing it or replacing it with a fence that can't be climbed over, such as the wooden fences common to this area.

  • Trainer shoes over phone line
A pair of trainers, laces tied together, is hanging over the phone line spanning carlton way close to perse way. Not only is this unsightly, but in popular culture is a sign left by gangs indicating a drug dealer lives nearby.
  • Bad car parking
On road opposite virgin media offices, caused by cars on sturton street and also by residents living in the lfats opposite the virgin media depot. causes pedestrians to walk in the road. some more yellow paint needed perhaps?
  • Path full of dog muck
All the paths are full of dog muck. the council has to help to tackle this consistent problems. Our children now have to walk on the road as this mess has dot out of control.
  • Graffiti tag on back of sign
There is a graffiti tag on the back of the sign at the Corrie Road end of the path to Rustat Road. Please could this be removed? Please let me know of any action on this report. Thank you.
  • Constant barking dog (sent to both)
Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to report a dog which constantly barks in the back garden of a neighbour's house. I feel it is pure neglect that the dog continously barks including the middle of the night. Can you advise on what best to do.
  • Adams Road not gritted and icy today (sent to both)
Adams road is used for commuting to West Cambridge by many cyclists. There were sheets of ice on it in places today. The Coton cycle track was equally icy. If it is a council responsibility it should be gritter too. I found cycling on both quite frightening!
  • Ticket machine out of order
The pay and display ticket machine at the location identified on the map is unable to print tickets (it appears to be working until you enter money and press the button for a ticket, whereupon it does nothing for a while, then declares itself out of order and refunds your money). Has been like this for about a week.
  • Stone and missiles at windows (sent to both)
This alleyway between French's Road and Harvey Goodwin Avenue suffers from vandals who throw things at adjacent houses' windows.
  • Filthy streets
Can you come and clean up this estate sometime at your convenience, as i know how you lead busy life. This whole estate looks like something out of war zone, with rubbish and broken footpaths, coered in berries and leaves.
  • Broken climbing frame (sent to both)
The railings have been broken off the sides of two of the high platforms of the climbing frame in the Histon Road Rec. There are now unprotected falls of 2m and 1.5m.
  • Graffiti on Cabinet
There is graffiti on the cabinet outside 7 Perne Road. Can you please remove this and let me know when this has been done, Many thanks, Chris
  • Mirrors needed (sent to both)
Each of the four cycle paths under the roundabout has a ramp intersecting with a tunnel at a blind corner. A mirror at each corner would solve the problem.
  • Sign spray painted over
The Ashbury Close sign has been partially sprayed over. Can this be cleaned off, perhaps at the same time as the grafitti on the telephone box just up the road, Thanks, Chris
  • Fridge and Estate Agent Sign
A fridge and estate agent sign have been dumped in an entrance to Tiverton House, can these please be removed.
  • Drain can't cope (sent to both)
Our house (2 Warkworth Street) was flooded in the basement because the road drain couldn't cope with the rain water last week. Please could it be cleared/checked so this doesn't happen again?
  • Verge parking, broken kerbs (sent to both)
The residents would like to be canvasssed and action taken to either remove or replant the verges. The fencing around the green area has been broken for at least 5 years; the kerbs and planting around the trees on the paths need renewing. We'd also like to get involved with planting too.
  • Blocked drain
There is a blocked drain on the path behind the round public toilets on Midsummer Common/Butt Green that causes a huge puddle when it rains.
  • Edwardian lamppost needing painting (sent to both)
At the bend on Burnside, next to the TA exit, there is a wonderful old (Edwardian?) lamppost which no longer has a streetlight but does sport 3 direction signs. This intersting pole of cast iron has not been painted in my estimation for more than ten years and is in dire need of a makeover. The shiny new signs look tarnished on such a flaky rusty post and all it would take is a full paintjob to smarten up the street again.
  • Daily rubbish & recent tree cuttings
I walk through this passageway every day and 2 years ago I was picking up 1-2 items of litter daily and depositing them in the only far-off bin situated in Montreal Square. This year there have been 6-8 items a day (water/vodka bottles, tissues, beer/coke cans, sandwich/sweet wrappers) but also regular dumpings of household rubbish (clothes, toys, bedding, DIY packaging, motorcycle/car parts). Since the Council cut back most of the vegetation in about March these have continued and there is some bedding behind the bushes where indicated (and behind the fence in the school playground on the opposite side). However, there is also branches cut from a fir tree nearby and further up on the ther side, nearer to Hobart Road there are beech tree branches left piled up and cuttings from the adjacent house left there also. Most of the litter is dropped by the schoolchildren walking through here in term time as it diminishes in vacations but I have long asked for another litter bin near the entrance to the walkway on Hobart Road and prefereably another in the corner as it turns into Montreal Road. I'm sure kids and adults alike would use these visible bins more ofter than discarding items in the bushes. The bin in Montreal Square is too far away and hardly noticeable to most people walking through from Natal Road.
  • Bollards not replaced (sent to both)
Bollards at the entrance and exit to this passage were removed but never replaced. It is now possible to drive a mini through here - as residents' reported recently. A traffic restriction of some kind - leaving enough distance for cyclists and wheelchairs - should be put in place.
  • Lack of standard rubbish bins
The area in and around the recreation park (children's play area + green area at the back) has no less than 3 bins for dogs fouling, but not a single rubbish bin. Hence the amount of litter on the floor (bottles, sweet wraps, carrier bags etc). Maybe a few rubbish bins would reduce the problem?
  • Street never cleaned properly
Cavendish road has continual litter, regardless of when you walk along the road (morning/evening/any day of the week). This has to be fixed. The problem is persistant and continual in the whole Romsey area of Cambridge.
  • Tree destroyed by idiot
On the northern side of Brimley Road, the second tree from the Redfern Close end has been snapped in half by an idiot.
  • Vandalism -skate ramp damaged
The skate ramp in cherry hinton rec has been vandalised. It is currently very dangerous, as sharp metal edges are exposed.
  • Road surface needs repairing (not sent to council)
When the roundabout immediately south was resurfaced several lumps of leftover tarmac were left on Trumpington Street. I assumed these would soon be removed, but they have not, and they make the road surface lumpy and unsuitable for cycling.
  • Blocked pavement (not sent to council)
The pavement outside Caffe Uno is often blocked by parked vans, signs, phone box, rubbish bin, parked mopeds, and bikes attached to signs. There is generally far too much street furniture getting in the way.
  • Flooded carriageway (not sent to council)
Queens Road northbound, just after junction with Silver St/Sidgwick Ave. Even a small amount of rain leads to a flood halfway across the road. Cyclists have to cycle in the middle of the road to avoid possibly hitting invisible obstructions. Pavement is unuseable for pedestrians who prefer not to get soaked by passing cars who cannot miss the large puddle owing to oncoming traffic - the spray generated would have gone over our heads had we not waited until the lights changed and then ran along that section on Saturday as we were walking along that section on the west side of Queens Road to return to Sidgwick Ave. This is an ongoing problem I've been meaning to report for several months - on my bike I cope with it by being assertive, but it's really grim when on foot.
  • Flood whenever there is a small amount of rain (not sent to council)
At junction of Milton Rd and Kings Hedges Road, northbound on Milton Rd, just at traffic lights in left turn lane (towards K-H Rd). Lane fills with water almost to centre of road, even with a small amount of rain. Dangerous to cyclists/motorcyclists who cannot see potholes. Dangerous to pedestrians waiting at crossing as it is impossible to wait in the correct place and not get soaked.
  • Cars Parking On Verge
Cars constantly paring on verge, obstructing view of on coming traffic when leaving drive way.
  • Council owned fencing blown down in recent winds (sent to both)
Council owned wooden fence blown down in recent winds. This is a primeter fence separating the back gardens of the residents of Thorleye Road and the old peoples bungalows in Gerard Close. There appears to be two panels blown down with the possibility of the three posts rotted away.
  • Bins on MOwbray / Cherryhinton Road / Wulfstan Way (sent to both)
Formerly there were 5 litter bins and one pet bin on this stretch - there is now one litter bin and no pet bins. Could you please reinstate the litter and pet bins?
  • Sign for Cheney Way missing
The sign for Cheney Way is missing, presumably stolen. Could a replacement be provided please? It should read: Cheney Way leading to Bourne Road, Long Reach Road and Fairbairn Road Thanks.
  • Grass Needs Some TLC
There is a small area of grass outside the row 6/8/10/12 Lawrence Way which was killed off by people driving vehicles on it. Since then the council very kindly put up some fences which have stopped the problem but not fixed the damage. It would be great if parks and recs could come and scarify the ground (as it is very compacted) and get a bit of grass seed down so that it doesn't become such a mudbath when the weather is inclement. Many thanks.
  • Large dog muck in middle of path
Large amount of dog muck right in the middle of the main pathway.Between no 9 and 9A Ramsden Square.
  • Broken clock in bus station (sent to both)
The clock in the bus station is currently broken (or switched off). This is not helpful to those of us who travel by public transport.
  • Repeated Dog Crap on path
Repeated dog fouling on the pavement between 9 - 9A Ramsden Square
  • Grass verge
Grass verge at this particular point is like a swamp.Have spoken to local councillors regarding the state of all grass verges on the estate to no avail. The problem is car parking with no regard to the grass verge.
  • Wood in the garden
I found some wood poluting the garden.
  • Abandoned Van (outside 27 Ross St)
Outside the property 27 Ross Street, CB1 3BP there is what appears to be an abandoned vehicle. It is a navy blue van (Reg: M368 MVC). The passenger window is open, and the two offside tyres are completely flat. It has been in this state for over two months now and is taking up two parking spaces. Thank you for your assistance.
  • Dangerously bright lighting over Ditton Meadows (sent to both)
One of the houses on the N side of Howard close has a dangerously bright movement-sensitive light shining across the cycle path which, on dark nights, dazzles cyclists and prevents them from seeing anything. There is a very similar issue with one of the lights on the Ditton Walk industrial area which is aligned to shine along the cycle bridge over the drainage ditch on Ditton Meadows. In the latter place, last night I saw a cyclist (with lights; cycling at a slow speed) collided with a pedestrian on the bridge. Although no-one was injured, and I doubt the incident was reported. Speaking to the cyclist as I helped him pick his bike up, he said the lights in the industrial area had prevented him from seeing anything as he crossed the bridge.
  • CCTV promised, where is it? (sent to both)
When the bridge was built we were promised CCTV, where is it?
  • Graffiti tags on no entry signs
Thes have been there for a couple of weeks at least
  • Broken manhole cover (sent to both)
There is a broken manhole cover in the garages area, and there is overgrown vegetation around the garages. I reported this via the Guildhall Reception email address 28th April, but no reply was received. Presumably this location is City Homes responsibility - can this please be fixed, as it is dangerous.
  • Several graffiti tags on cable cabinet
There are several tags on this green cable cabinet near the junction of Kerridge Close and Sturton Street

  • Poor road repair (sent to both)
A rectangular area of very poor quality road repair presenting a hazard to cyclists
  • Pothole (sent to both)
Large pothole in road (the entire road probably needs a re-surface, to be honest)
  • Wobbly paving slab (sent to both)
On the path at the side of the library near the window.I've tripped over it on several occasions over the past couple of years.
  • Glass on the ground (sent to both)
Just over the stile from Dalton Square there is a lot of broken glass scattered around on the grass.
  • Dangerous Crossing (sent to both)
Madingley road is heavily used by pedestrians but does not have provision for crossing Lady Margret Road. It only has 'dimpled' pavement. Although there is a long way round for pedestrians, it is ignored and Lady Margret road is heavily used as a crossing by pedestrians on Madingley Road. There needs to be provision for pedestrians, or soon there will be an accident.
  • Bright security light on pathway (sent to both)
When walking from Richmond Road to Windsor Road, the property on the left has an automatic security light that shines right into your face so you can't see. It could be reduced with a screen or the light repointed.

Recently fixed
