Unfinished pavement work, 3rd July

The pavement was dug up over 2 months ago, but no-one has been back for nearly 6 weeks to replace the block paving. Also nearby in the street, the gap left in block paving has been filled with Tarmac ! it looks disgraceful !

Removal of granite bollards, 3rd June

The granite bollards that used to be at both ends of the narrow section of Bridals Lane were removed sometime ago and replaced with steel collapsible bollards and padlocks. The top bollard was placed to the side of the lane, enabling bikes and small cars to bypass it and the padlocks are never in place anyway. As a result, cars and bikes drive down this very narrow, high-sided lane, destroying the hedgerow and wild flowers and causing problems for pedestrians and horse riders. If a car came along when someone was walking up the lane, they would have no choice but to turn around and walk all the way back, to the top or bottom of the hill. Bridals Lane is a bridle way to Talland Bay and is used by families walking to and from the beach, the removal of the granite bollards has made the use of this path virtually impossible for walkers and horse riders. Where are the origianl granite bollards? Who removed them and can they be replaced to protect the vegetation and pedestrian rights of way of this very attractive lane?

Building materials at roadside, 31st May

Building materials have been present at the roadside in front of this house for at least 3 years. The house owner says it is for personal use. However a business is obviously being run from a private house here and these building materials are constantly there causing distraction to drivers. Surely sych an eyesore must also devalue surrounding properties. St Cleer has not been able to be considered for the Best Kept Village competition while such an unsightly road hazard exists.

Illegal building of fences., 6th May

The Thurley family who live on asmall part of Carn Eanes in Pendeen near St Just have started erecting fences on part of Carn Eanes that they don't own.
They tried to claim this land saying that they had squatters rights several years ago. They were told by the County Council that they don't own the entire Carn yet they still put up illegal fences.
This must be stopped.

Lack of safe places to walk, 5th May

We have prolems with speeding traffic, i know we have a 30 limit but hardly anyone takes any notice of it, so walking to and from the village is not as safe as it might be. I have reported this before do a local council member a couple of years a go

Non compliance with smoking legislation by Managment Company, 24th April

On Thursday 17th april 2008, two smoking enforcement officers visited this estate(29-36 Trevorder rd Torpoint, pl11 2ns) with regard to complaints about smoking in non smoking areas. The directors of the managment company for this estate asked for the council to get invovled and enforce the legislation. Several people were spoken to,and they have started to smoke outside of these areas, but the directors of the managment company are still being non-compliant by not placing signs in the areas covered by the legislation, including their registered office at 29C trevorder rd. As the directors are the ones who wanted the council to become involved, they are now breaking legislation that they wanted enforced by not displaying signage in the affected areas. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information.

Deteriorating State of Footpath, 23rd April

On 20th August 2007 I reported the deteriorating state of the footpath outside our property.

I have heard from Cornwall CC that the matter is logged with them but nothing more appears to happen - while the pavement becomes increasingly poor.

One suspects we are not of sufficient priority to warrant repair but I become increasingly concerned that an accident is just waiting to happen.

The matter does NOT require simple patching - a resurfacing project is necessary.

Speeding cars, 7th April

I live in foxhole the carpella end. I moved here a year ago and am extremly concerned about the speed of cars that travel past my house. The speed limit is 30 but the amount of cars that travel at speed past my house is frightening as i have children. Ive been told that speed bumps can not be used because of the amount of traffic that use the road. I believe that some thing needs to be done before there is a serious accident!!!!. I think if you were to come and stand outside my house for a hour you would be shocked at how fast some people drive in a30 zone!!!!.

Road left in unsafe state without adequate warnings, 19th March

The road surface has been removed to a depth of three or four inches over an area of about half the road width by about 10 feet, in preparation for patching. ie the works block half the road. The site has been left with just cones. No warning signs or lights. This is immediately adjacent to old people's sheltered housing and although it doesn't affect the pavement it is an additional hazard to pedestrians as well as traffic.

Better Lighting Required, 2nd March

This street is used in the late evening and early hours of the morning by patrons of both the Garrison Social Club & Eclipse Night Club. They are loud and abusive when they walk along the road and have been seen using dark areas of the road as toilets! Could the council please review the lighting on this road in order to deter drunken & offensive behaviour from occurring & affecting residents who live in the houses along the entire stretch of the road. Families with young children have to endure loud & abusive voices particularly at weekends. Vehicles have been damaged and residents threatened verbally. As there is no reason for patrons of either clubs to use this road, other than the fact that it is dark & a shortcut, better lighting so the offenders are on show rather than hiding in the shadows may deter them from using this road at all.
