No Manhole Cover to drainage shaft, 18th July

While walking through the long grass I noticed that the cast iron manhole cover to the drainage system had been removed and not been replaced.
The cover is no longer there, and it is quite possible for someone to have a serious accident if the cover is not replaced. it is an accident waiting to happen.
The manhole is situated in the long grass and you will have to look carefully to find its location.

Supply waste Bin for the above problem, 16th June

On ONE occasion last year I picked up and dispossed of 27 blue bags which had been left in and around this area of Lamplugh/Cogra Moss. All bags contained dog excrement.
Presumably the dog owners had been responsible enough to pick up the mess caused by their animals, but had then disposed of it in an unsatisfactory manner as there was no place to properly get rid of the excrement.
Its about time a number of these bins were situated in Lamplugh to prevent this problem.

Toilet for the disabled, Egremont car park., 1st June

I am a wheelchair user and on Monday, May 19th I had the misfortune to be locked in the toliet for the disabled. I had used my Radar key to open the door, which is a heavily reinforced one, presumably to deter vandals. As the door shut behind me I was left in total darkness and had to feel my way to the toilet, although I could have found it by smell alone! I could not see if there was a toilet roll or whether there were any hand washing facilities. I found it impossible to open the door to get out and had to pass my daughter the key under a gap at the base of the door. I dread to think what would have happened if I had been alone.

I went to the Copeland Borough council offices on May 21st and reported the matter to Ms KI Copeland who assured that the matter would be dealt with promptly.

Unfortunately I had to use the toilet on Friday, May 30th and nothing had been done to rectify the problem. I was already prepared so was able to cope but I think it is absolutely disgraseful that the situation arose in the first place and even worse that nothing had been done two weeks later. I only used the facilities with great reluctance once I encountered the apalling aroma as this did not bode well for the cleanliness of the facility, perhaps it was as well that I could not see what I was using!

Speeding Motorists, 10th April

While one side of the village has speed humps, the village main street has no deterent against speeding motorists. There is now an increasing problem of motorists who appear to think they are above the law and treat the legal speed limit with contempt.
This is a residential street and I think the time has come for the council to take action before there is a serious accident. The police do mount radar checks on entry to the village, but I have yet to see any speed check being carried out concentrating on vehicles travelling along Main Street.

Bin Collections on Fridays, 6th February

Each Friday morning bin collection, two things happen:(a) The dentists black bin (they are the only people that have one on our street)gets left at the top of the hill,it is vulnerable then to being blown in the wind back down the hill and crashing into cars! It would take the bin men 20 seconds to return it to wear it belongs.

(b) The bin men usually leave a trail of litter and broken glass in their haste to get away from the area...not the best practice especially as young children play in the cul-de-sac back street!

Bonfire, 8th November

Doing an internet search I have found that almost ALL other councils are dismantling and removing these unofficial UNISURED bonfires, Every year this one makes the lives of us residents a misery- it brings noise, mess, smoke, fumes, illegal fly tipping and of course the VERY anti social behaviuor associated with bonfires and fireworks. As this was lit Monday evening and left to burn out unattended- which it didn't,youths came at 2am and spread the fire over an even wider area and threw fireworks into it, it was then re kindled Tuesday evening again attracting youths and as of today the ash remains.

Bransty play park, 14th April

I regularly visit Bransty play park with my children and was disgusted to see that the bridge across the climbing frame was damaged and dangerous. The most shocking thing of all was that the only thing to stop the children from crossing this very dangerous bridge was a bit of hazard tape. Surely if the council knew about this you would have made it more secure until a time that it could be fixed properly. I would also like to add that the general state of the apparatus is poor and is in need of repair or replacement. I understand that this is probably a money issue but the play park is an important part of the Bransty community and there for should be maintained properly.
