Refuse Collections

Every Tuesday at around 0700hrs the refuse collectors move ahead of the lorry and use a 1600ltr wheeled bin to move along the back alleys collecting the black bin bags people leave outside their back gates. This makes an awful noise and the bags get split because they being thrown about. The bags then get piled up into a massive heap and stay there for a few hours until the lorry comes. All of the bags are then thrown in the lorry spilling out the contents of those bags that were split. I had an arguement with a refuse collector last week because he refused to sweep up the mess when I asked even though it says on the City of York website that they will leave your street clean and tidy. The simplest solution to this is for the Council to write to all residents and tell them to put their bin bags at their front doors. That way the lorry can drive down the street as the guys throw the bags direct into the lorry without faffing about the other way. I have contacted the Council before about this and had no responses.
