Dangerous Pothole

Driving along the A507 on the 23-2-2010 I hit a very large pothole while traveling at approx 50 mph. This caused my n/s/f tyre to deflate instantly. After pulling over to somewhere safe on the road I was joined by another couple in a silver jaguar who had done exactly the same thing to their vehicle. We both managed to change our wheels at the side of the road and on closer inspection of my wheel I realised the sidewall of my tyre had been torn apart. The pothole is approximatly 4-6 inches deep and 3-4 foot in diameter. It is also very difficult to see at night as it is directly opposite the junction of the Flitton hill and Ampthill Road and your eyes are drawn to vehicles exiting this junction, more so at night.
I do have photos of the pothole but am unable to upload them at the moment as I am writing this on a company computer.
