Rats

Last Friday we parked on the market car park at approx17.00 hours. There was a large rat running around the car park. When we returned to our car approx 1 hour later there were 2 rats. A young woman walking through was faced with both rats in her path. Her presence did not deter them. When the swimming pool was demolished but before the land was turned into a car park I would regularly see rats in the undergrowth in broad daylight and when I worked at Elizabeth House have seen them on Great moor street at lunchtime on bright sunny days. What sort of a message does this give to visitors to the town? I know in general the rat population is mushrooming and that fast food litter adds to the problem so any control must target both areas but something must be done.
